Our client is currently seeking applications for an Indigenous Waste Collection Operator to join their team. The South Burnett Region is ideally situated just 2 - 3 hours' drive to Brisbane, Toowoomba, Sunshine Coast and Fraser Coast. The region is home to the stunning Bunya Mountains, where you can enjoy spectacular rainforest walks, nights by the fire in hidden chalets and the best scenic views Queensland has to offer. The South Burnett region is renowned for its great wine, gourmet foods and recreational facilities such as Lake Boondooma and Yallakool tourist parks. We are currently servicing one of the largest employers in the South Burnett Region who are offering stable, steady work with a 9-day fortnight.
Efficiently perform waste collection services in accordance with Council’s work schedules, and identified quality and quantity standards.
Operate a range of plant and medium, heavy rigid and heavy combination refuse collection/disposal vehicle as required.
Perform general labouring duties and other activities as required
Coordinate available resources to maintain vehicle and plant promprly and effectively.
Implement and maintain scheduled refuse collection run plan to ensure effective and efficient use of resources.
Monitor and update town layout and environs, maps and schedules.
Provide reports on waste collection run schedules, complaints received and hazardous waste collection and disposal.
Deliver new service requirements (Eg. Hire bins) to various locations
Assist with maintenance and servicing of landfill, transfer stations and roadside littler control as required, which may involve the use of small plant.
Complete additional activities and reasonable direction given by management.
Identify as Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander
Minimum of HR License
Willingness to undergo Criminal History Check
Proven ability to undertake daily maintenance and service plant and equipment (including pre-start inspections) for equipment and small plant, including mowers and tractors.
Ability to work under minimal supervision and complete assigned works duties on time and within required standards
Basic literacy, numeracy and communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
